5 Ways to add Humour photo

Want to know 5 Ways to Add Humour, Mystery, and Playfulness to Your Marriage?

Have you ever been bored in your marriage? If so, you’re not alone! Many married couples get stuck in a rut, only interacting with each other when they need to talk about something serious like work or the kids or money. This can cause boredom and even resentment to build up over time. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can add humour, mystery, and playfulness to your marriage to keep things exciting!

The next time you want to spice things up in your relationship, try out one of these 5 ways to add humour, mystery, and playfulness to your marriage!

  1. Being playful with each other

Laughter is one of our favourite ways to connect with each other. Sometimes it’s good for a relationship just to play games or be silly together. Take advantage of opportunities when you’re having fun and add that little bit of laughter or playfulness into your marriage. When times are tough (and they will be), having that special time spent together can really make a difference in helping you get through hard situations.

  1. Be brave and try new things

Sometimes you need a little surprise or spontaneity in your marriage to keep things fresh. So step out of your comfort zone and do something different. Sign up for an improv class together—it’ll help you see your spouse in a new light while strengthening your bond as a couple. Or share secrets with each other by taking turns writing them down on paper and sealing them in envelopes that only you can open. This will add fun (and secrecy) to any relationship.

  1. Using humour as a weapon against negativity

In a marriage filled with fun, there’s less room for negativity. Even when trying your best to be objective about an argument or problem in your relationship, it’s all too easy for things to get stressful and turn ugly. When you have a healthy sense of humour and playfulness in your marriage you can use that as a weapon against those very negative emotions.

  1. Couples who have date nights every week stay connected

Have you ever known couples who have been married for 30 years or more? If so, chances are these couples still go out on dates every week. In some cultures, it is customary for older married couples to tell younger married couples that they should have date nights at least once a week. This is not because they do not like each other anymore but rather because keeping up with relationships helps keep a marriage fresh.

  1. Take advantage of any window you have to be romantic

Make a date night out of it. Sometimes all you need is an excuse to just have fun together in a low-pressure way. Go out for ice cream or play mini golf at your local course. It’s not always about an extravagant meal or trip. Anything that gets you both out of a routine can work!

Dullness and routine kills a marriage.  It is as simple as that. If you want to stay happily married for life, you must bring in a little something extra into your marriage every now and then. It should be about trying something new together or doing something that makes you laugh together.
