Key 6 Letting Go
Letting go is a time to let go of the thoughts and feelings that do not support you. Perhaps you spend a lot of your day in the past and are not present in the here and now, the present moment. For a quality life you need to be present in the here and now, living in the moment. When you let go of the past and focus on living in the moment you will move closer to “unlocking all of u” What percentage of your life is in the present?
Past Thoughts %
Living in the moment %
Future Thoughts %
Where your mind focuses its attention is a great indicator to what you may need to let go of if it’s not in the moment.
Letting go is a vital step in “unlocking all of u”. I have clients who describe to me that they are in a pool of mud and they feel like they are drowning. Over there lifetime they haven’t learnt to let go at particular times when they have needed to. They arrive in my practice almost drowning. They have stayed there for so long because the fear of change is keeping them there.
Changes can begin immediately when you decide you know longer want to be surrounded by mud of your negative thoughts, your dysfunctional thinking. Getting comfortable with change is like exercise, you have to do it daily and the more frequently you take action the easier things will become, the more steadily you progress and the quicker you start to see the results.
“You have to let go of what is not working in your life to make room for the new”
Some people have a major life event that they have to let go of for them to move forward in their life, for others something that happened last week. A good indication is to ask yourself how much of your day is living in the here and now. How much do you live in the past and future? If you’re living most of your time in present time then you have nothing to let go. Many people think about the past and have not moved on from a particular time or event. It’s vital to be able to “let go” as this will give you peace and acceptance. After a certain amount of time and this is different for everyone their comes a point in time you have to let whatever it is that is holding you back, go.
Some examples include
• Death of a loved one
• Unemotional parent
The list is endless of what people need to let go off. What do you need to let go of? Counselling can assist if you are unable to let go of issues on your own. When you are able to let go you live an authentic life loving every part of yourself.
